The major steps involved in the installation and implementation of large industrial projects such as oil and gas facilities, power plants and factories are as follows:

Project planning and design: This includes site selection, process design, equipment selection, piping and instrumentation diagrams, civil and structural designs, electrical and control system designs, etc. Detailed engineering drawings and specifications are produced.

Equipment procurement: The required process equipment, pipes, electrical components, instruments, valves, pumps, etc. are sourced from suppliers as per the design requirements.

civil works: Foundation works, erection of buildings, construction of storage tanks and installation of other civil infrastructure starts.

Equipment erection and installation: The procured equipment is delivered to site and installed as per engineering drawings and specifications. Pipes are connected and electrical wirings are done.

System Integration: All electrical, instrumentation and control systems are integrated to work as a single operating unit.

Commissioning and startup: Individual systems are tested and calibrated. The entire facility is tested as an integrated unit by performing commissioning activities. The final startup is done when all systems are functioning properly.

Performance testing: After startup, performance tests are conducted to verify that design parameters are met. Parameters like output capacity, efficiency, emission levels etc. are checked.

Operator and maintenance training: Operators and maintenance staff are trained on safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the facility.

Handover: After satisfactory performance testing and training, the facility is officially handed over to the owner for commercial operations.
